Privacy Policy

1. Scope

This policy applies to the UK Test Coach iOS app and support communications relating to the app. In this policy, “we”, “us”, and “our” refer to the developer of UK Test Coach.

This policy does not apply to third-party websites or services that you may open from the app, including Apple services and GOV.UK.

2. Information we do not collect

UK Test Coach does not ask for or collect personal information through the app. In particular, we do not collect:

• Your name, postal address, telephone number, or account profile
• Your precise or approximate location
• Your contacts, photos, files, camera, or microphone data
• Advertising identifiers or data used to track you across apps or websites
• App usage analytics, diagnostic analytics, or behavioural profiles
• Your study answers, bookmarks, scores, progress, or mock-test history

We do not sell personal information and do not use personal information for advertising.

3. Information stored on your device

The app stores the following information locally so that study features work between sessions:

• Onboarding status and app preferences
• Your optional exam date and daily study goal
• Questions answered, starred questions, mistakes, and mastery progress
• Mock-test answers, flagged questions, timing state, and result history
• Whether the free mock test has been used

This information is stored using Apple-provided on-device storage. It is not transmitted to us, and we cannot view or retrieve it. Depending on your device and Apple backup settings, iOS may include app data in a device backup. We do not control or have access to your Apple backups.

4. In-app purchases

Coach Pro purchases and purchase restoration are handled by Apple through StoreKit and the App Store. Apple may process information such as your Apple Account, transaction details, device information, and payment information under its own privacy policy.

The app receives only the product and entitlement information needed to confirm whether Coach Pro is active. We do not receive your full payment card number, Apple Account password, or billing credentials.

5. Support communications

If you email us for support or content feedback, we receive the information you choose to provide. This may include your email address, message, device model, iOS version, app version, screenshots, or attachments.

We use this information only to respond to your request, investigate problems, improve the app, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations. Our lawful basis, where required, is our legitimate interest in providing support and maintaining the app, or your consent where applicable.

Please do not include passwords, payment card details, immigration documents, citizenship application information, or other sensitive personal information in a support message.

6. Sharing, sale, and tracking

We do not sell or rent personal information. We do not share your information with advertising networks, data brokers, or analytics providers, and we do not track you across apps or websites.

Support communications may be processed by the service providers needed to deliver and store email. We may also disclose information if reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights or safety, investigate fraud or abuse, or respond to a valid legal request.

7. External services and links

The app includes a link to official Life in the UK Test information on GOV.UK. When you open an external link, your browser and the destination website may process information under their own terms and privacy policies. We do not control those services.

UK Test Coach is an independent study tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or an official service of GOV.UK, the Home Office, or PSI.

8. Retention and deletion

Study information remains on your device until you delete it. You can remove study progress from the app's Settings screen. Deleting the app removes its locally stored data from that device, subject to any device backups managed by Apple.

Support correspondence is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to respond, resolve issues, improve the app, meet legal requirements, and maintain appropriate business records. You may ask us to delete support information associated with your email address, subject to any legal retention obligation.

9. Security

We limit data handling by keeping study information on your device and by not operating user accounts or a study-data server. Local data is protected by the security features of your device and iOS. Support communications are handled using reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, but no storage or transmission method can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

10. Children's privacy

UK Test Coach is intended for people preparing for the Life in the UK Test and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the app. If you believe a child has sent us personal information in a support message, contact us so that we can review and delete it where appropriate.

11. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, restriction of, or objection to the processing of personal information that we hold about you, and to lodge a complaint with a privacy regulator.

Because app study data is stored only on your device, we do not have a server-side copy to access or delete. For information contained in support correspondence, send a request from the email address concerned to the contact address below. We may need to verify your request before acting on it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the app, our practices, or legal requirements change. The latest version will be posted at this location with a revised “Last updated” date. Material changes may also be communicated in the app or through the App Store where appropriate.
